Sari Crossed The Rainbow Bridge

Sari, one of Joey’s ‘family’, passed away on May 14th, 2020. She wasn’t doing well and, with her fur-sister Memere, went to the vet for the final time. She will be missed.

More Kwaranteen

Cheryl’s driving me nuts! She’s doing spring cleaning, she says, and has the living room all over the place. There are two new file cabinets with all manner of papers and stuff in them now. There are bags and boxes of stuff Cheryl’s throwing out all over the place. Most of her craft stuff is organized and ready to go upstairs. She just needs to sort out one more section and we have a living room back.

We’ll have to rearrange the furniture a bit, Cheryl says. The bookcase, the big 7′ tall one needs to go up against a different wall. If she’s not careful, the bookcase will fall over where it stands now. But, she says, that’s going to be after everything gets sorted out.

Kwaranteen

We’re under something called “kwaranteen” now. I don’t know what it means, but Cheryl’s been staying home all day and not going to the museum. I don’t mind, sort of. It’s nice to see her, but it’s a bloody inconvenience when she kicks us off the couch so she can have a nap.

She’s been working on her crocheting and not letting me up into her lap as often as I’d like, too. She’s been doing a lot of playing with papers and muttering. I’m not sure if that’s for her needlework or for her stories. Given that she looks at books a lot and consults other papers, it’s probably a bit of both.

Boy, It’s Been A While

It’s been a while since I posted here. My apologies. It’s been a different couple of years. Petra moved out and then moved to Saskatoon to go to school. She’s going to be a massage therapist. She sounds like she’s having fun with her new fiance, Matt. They’re going to have a baby this spring, which makes Cheryl a gramma. Cheryl’s friend, Marilyn, babysits a 3-year-old who already calls Cheryl gramma. I suppose it’s better than “Hey, you!” I don’t think it’s really sunk in with Cheryl that her baby is going to have a baby. She finds the appellation “Gramma” amusing.

Cheryl’s got 3 books on the go with 3 already up for sale and a 4th just about ready to go. She’s starting a middle-grade novel about a real live dragon that lives just a few blocks away. Book 5 of the Der Reizen series still needs to be finished and the back cover of book 4 hasn’t been completed yet. Once that’s done, Book 4 will be put up for sale. She’s also still working on Rigger Mortis, the book about her time in the military. She didn’t keep a diary, so she’s got to think back about all the things she did in the military. It’s slow going, that one.

She’s working with the Prince Albert Writers’ Group on making an anthology. She’s found a place to print the books and not charge an arm and a leg. This is a good thing. She’s also volunteering at the local museum and enjoying the work. She took time off from the food bank to write and got bored, so she applied at the museum as a volunteer.

Oops, it’s been a while

I had almost forgotten about this site. Okay, to bring you up to date – so far we have 5 cats, Thomas (me), Alex, Sinjin, Max and Licorice. Max needs to be neutered (hopefully this summer) and Licorice will need spaying. Cheryl has published a book and written 3-1/2 more. She’s working on book 4 for the Der Reizen series and a book just for my human sisters. Cheryl also has a part-time job working at the food bank. She’s been doing that for a couple of years now and volunteered before that.

Now if only I could get her trained to get up before 5 am to feed me and the others. It’s a royal pain having to wake her up every morning. She should be able to do that on her own by now.
