For all the lost posts here, I’d better catch things up a bit for those who follow my drivel.
First off, we’re down to two cats and four kittens, three of whom are spoken for. That’s a plus, I think. Schroeder got picked up by the pound again, and I didn’t have the money to get him released. Peanut, Junior, Shiloh, Amelia and Blackie all went to a farm. We have Smoky and Joey left, with the four kittens from Smoky’s last litter. We didn’t make the mistake of naming these kittens, however. The guy who helped me move and another woman want calicos and the neighbour wants the all-grey male.
We’ve moved residences, too. We’re still in the process of unpacking, mostly because this place is like a jigsaw puzzle that you have to start from the middle. We’ve got most of the kitchen done and part of the living room. The rest of the living room won’t get done until I get room to put together the shelves in the basement. For that, I need the mountain of laundry done. We’re working on it, a couple of loads at a time.
Me? I’m coping with new neighbours and new surroundings. More or less. It doesn’t quite feel like home yet, but it may after we get things unpacked and sorted out. Going out is hard again, but I can’t increase my meds without feeling terribly drugged. I’ll get there. Most of my fears, I think, are the result of the neighbourhood I’ve moved into. It’s not the greatest in the city, but it was all I could get on short notice. It doesn’t help much that it’s a predominantly Native neighbourhood. I’m not used to being a “visible minority” and it’s most disconcerting.
With luck and a bit of perserverance, I’ll get by. I have no choice.
