Cheryl’s Visit To The Vet

Cheryl went to see her vet today and she came back (albeit she took a long time) all smiles. She says her ‘cholesterol’ (whatever that is) is down considerably to the point where a bit less coffee whitener will bring it to ‘normal’ levels. She also says her sugar levels are a bit high (wouldn’t know it from the crankies she’s been having) but putting less sugar in her coffee will bring that down. And she’s to lay off the cookies and pasta, which isn’t that much of a hardship, she says. Poor lady has to eat more veggies, too. And not the catgrass type of veggies, either. She has to eat “real” veggies. She has my sympathy.

On a brighter note, though, we have cat litter and a few days worth of wet food. We sorta pigged out on the stuff today and ate a whole can of oceanfish and tuna. I’ll be glad when Grocery Shopping comes around. With luck, Cheryl will pick up some real kibble and not the huge pieces we have to try to chow down on now. To a cat, we really don’t like the stuff but it sure beats starving. One five-gallon pail is about 3/4 full, so we’ll be eating it for a while yet unless Cheryl takes pity on us and reserves that kibble for Jinx and the new grey and white tom that’s wandering around here. I can only hope, right?

You’ll have to pardon my distraction at the moment. I’m also looking out the front window at the neighbours from two doors down. Their van hasn’t been running for a few days and things got a bit frosted I guess. They needed a boost to get running, anyway. Now they’re trying to clear out the snow that the plows left the other day. Bit of a slog for them, but I don’t mind. They don’t like cats and I’m not much fussed on them. Cheryl has other reasons for not being fond of them, too. As a matter of fact, it was Cheryl who pointed out that there was some sort of activity going on out front. Poor Cheryl. She can’t look out the window and smile – but I can!
